BIBLE CLASSES Mike Jones is leading a class on Law, Gospel and Reformation (day care room). Pastor Rempfer is teaching a Bible study on Proverbs (Fellowship Hall). Don Henning is meeting with the confirmation students and their parents (2 nd grade classroom).
BIBLE CLASSES MIDWEEK: Tuesday a women’s study at 9:30 and an evening Bible study at 7 p.m. is covering “The Bible on Trial.” Pastor Saeger is leading the morning study and Jim Keller the evening one. Men’s Bible class, taught by Pastor Mueller, meets on Thursday at 10:00am with “I’ve Got Good News for You”.

CANS - 7th & 8th graders are savings cans to recycle to help offset the costs of their trip. Help by placing your empty cans between the garage and Pre-K Building.
CHILI SUPPER - On February 4th from 4-7:00pm, (the day before the Super Bowl) the fathers of St. James Lutheran School children will host the 4th Annual Fathers’ Chili Supper! The proceeds from this fundraiser will directly benefit the school. Enjoy some family fun time, dinner, and chili all while supporting the foundational ministry of St. James Lutheran School! Adults are $6, children $4, families are $20, and children under 3 are free.
CILCA SUMMER CAMPS Summer is comingquickly!!! The new summer program is available for Camp CILCA on our website at www.cilca.org. Take advantage of our early bird discounts and our new simple store online. Registration is much easier this year. If you would like to receive credit for those type of offerings in the future, you will need to make checks payable to that entity and mail directly to them.
DISTRICT CONVENTION – The CID Convention is July 8th – 10th in Springfield . Our delegate is to be designated by February 1st. If you are willing to serve, please speak with either pastor.
FAMILY TRIVIA NIGHT AT THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF ST. JOHN will be Saturday, January 28th with doors opening at 6:30pm and starting at 7:00pm. Desserts and drinks are provided. Maximum of 8 per table for ages 5 and up.

HORIZONS EMPTY BOWLS PROJECT – The upper grades of St. James School along with other school students are joining the efforts to fight hunger with a fundraiser scheduled for March 18th from 11:00am to 1:00pm . They will be painting bowls to serve soup in, for this event. A simple meal of soup and bread will be served. Tickets are $10 each or $50 family maximum. Please call Horizons Social Services at 653-3841 for ticket information.

LENTEN MEALS - We are looking for individuals or groups to host the noon and evening meals during Lent. All Wednesdays are available from Feb. 22nd through March 28th except the evening meal for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. Please contact the church office, if you would like to host.
LIFE WITH GOD How much do you know about the Bible? How much do you know about what you believe? Two new ten-week classes will be starting soon. You can attend one that starts on Thursday, January 26th from 7 – 9 or another that starts Saturday January 28th from 10 – noon . Please take a moment to think of any unchurched friends or relatives you could invite. Then, please come with them. Tell them you won’t have to read or answer any questions. For those who aren’t members, taking the class doesn’t mean they have to join. It is great to learn and to relearn. Come join us.

L.W.M.L. Winter Rummage/Garage Sale The L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) is having a Winter Rummage/Garage Sale on February 18th from 8:00am to 3:00pm. If you are interested in donating any items, they may be dropped off at the north end of the gymnasium bleachers on Feb. 11th from 8 am to noon or anytime the week of Feb. 12th - 17th. Questions, contact Della Wolter. Please make sure all donated items are clean and in working order. Clothing items should be clean and gently used. All proceeds will go toward Mission Projects.
Men’s Retreat @ CILCA February 24-26 Cutting trees, fixing buildings, and splitting wood are the main focus of our men’s retreat. You do not have to be skilled in using a chainsaw, hammer, or a tractor to come to this event. Here at Camp CILCA we are asking for all able-bodied men (18 years and older), who have a desire to serve Christ with their own sweat. The cost for this event is $25.00 to help pay for the materials needed to accomplish our goals. Camp CILCA ’s men’s retreat also serves as a wonderful opportunity to explore God’s Word as we will have morning and evening devotions/Bible studies and conclude with a Sunday worship service in the morning. NARTHEX LIBRARY: In the coming months there will be DVD videos offered. Currently the DVD “Walther” is available. Also available: a new book, “Spoken from My Heart,” personal memories by George Spear.
ST. JAMES SCHOOL ASSOCIATION PRESENTATION The “School Association Study Committee” has been meeting for about two years now. Much discussion and deliberation has taken place and the committee is now prepared to make a presentation on the potential of forming an association among our three LCMS church to support and strengthen St. James Lutheran School. The presentation will take place on January 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of St. John. The run through took about 35 minutes. We are confident this should not take more than an hour. All members are invited to attend, whether or not you have children in the school. After the presentation there will be a time for questions and answers and fruitful discussion. No decision will be made on January 29th but the presentation will open the door for consideration and dialogue regarding a potential school association.

SPRING FLING is coming!!! Donations are needed for our 8 th annual event, “Paris Nights”. In order to make this a fantastic success for our school, we are asking for your help! All donations are truly appreciated. In the past, we have had babysitting, homemade treats, weekends at a family retreat, baseball tickets, gift cards and many other things. Be creative!
