BIBLE CLASS - There are two adult Bible classes this week. Pastor Saeger (Fellowship Hall) will be leading a study on the assigned Scripture lessons for the week. Pastor Rempfer (Cafeteria) will lead a study from Lutheran Hour Ministries entitled, "How We Got Our Bible." This series features Dr. Paul Maier.

BIBLE STUDY (Summer morning & evening) Tuesday 9:30 a.m. - Pastor Rempfer is teaching "A Little Book on Joy". Tuesday evening, 6:45 Pastor Mueller’s Bible Class on "The Baloney Shop".

CALL MEETING – Clayton had a call meeting on Wednesday and Warsaw/Keokuk had one on Thursday.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF Ingathering Information Fall 2010 collection dates are October 29th and 30th. For more information regarding Parish Projects, Health Kits, School Kits, Sewing Kits, Layettes, Quilts & Soap, please check in the church office. About mid August, the church office should have final ingathering mailing that includes schedule and inventory sheets.

DOXOLOGY CONFERENCE – Doxology is a retreat to strengthen pastors for the task of faithfully shepherding the souls entrusted to their care. This Friday through Sunday both pastors, along with Mike Jones and Nik Broekemeier, will be attending a retreat in Springfield.  

ELDERS - The elders small group Bible Study meets Sunday at 7 p.m. at the home of the Bakaylars.

EMAIL PRAYER 1.0 Many people have already returned their email addresses to Pastor Mueller to receive weekly prayer emails. For those who have not yet returned their email addresses, a form is available from an elder or usher after the service where you can provide your name and email address, or if you don’t have an email address, your desire to pick-up a hard copy on Sunday mornings. The emailing began last week! You can join the list any time!

FAIR BOOTH Members from some of the LCMS congregations within the Quincy Circuit are again sponsoring a fair booth this year at the Adams County Fair, July 29th thru August 4th. If you are at the fair, please stop by! It will be located in the Quonset building. Any member from St. James that would like to volunteer to work in the fair booth, please contact David Stephens.

HY-VEE SCRIP - Plan to purchase your HyVee gift cards from the youth after each service. 5% of each card sold is profit to the youth.

MEN’S BBQ Do you feel like a man? Do you want be reminded what it’s like to be a real man? Then on August 21st, come to a night of fellowship, devotion, food and fun at a Men’s Summer BBQ. The night will begin at 5:30pm @ 4210 Ellington Road . There will be many manly events and contests taking place, including a washers tournament! There will be prizes provided by Lutheran Hour Ministries Men’s Network. Please bring your own meat to grill and camping chairs (please no alcohol). See the colorful flier on the bulletin board for more information, and call Pastor Mueller if you have any questions. It’s time for men to be real men!

MONDAY WORSHIP – Monday worship services are at 7 p.m. through the end of August.

NARTHEX LIBRARY – The Work of His Hands: A View of God’s Creation from Space, by Colonel Jeffrey Williams, an astronaut who in 2006 was a member of Expedition 13 to the international space station. (PL-231.7 in fellowship room)

RADIO BROADCAST - The Radio Broadcast is in memory of Hilmer Swanson.

RIDES - We are in need of individuals willing to help with rides for the Transition people to early service. If you can help, please call the church office.

ST. JAMES WELCOME CENTER - The Evangelism Committee hopes that members as well as guests will find the Welcome Center convenient and helpful as a source of information about our ministry. The Center will answer questions, provide welcome packets for visitors, and provide brochures on St. James ministries. We welcome suggestions concerning the new center. Our thanks to Tom Bell and Dan Nutt for this new Center.

SHUT-IN SERVICE will be Tuesday, July 27th at 1:00pm.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – “Joseph's Journey from Prison to Palace” begins Sunday and runs through Thursday. The time is 6 – 8:30.  

VOLUNTEER FORMS were distributed by the Board of Church Properties a few weeks ago. We would like to have a list of people who are willing to be available to help care for St. James properties, and their abilities to care. There are extra forms available if you have lost yours.
